Fun Fact about Jackie: she has moved 50 times so far!
There is something unique about moving 50 times in life, maybe I should be called the nomadic grateful artist!
Jackie Weatherly-Cadzow is an award-winning artist that loves bright, bold, color. Her artwork is inspired by nature and her mantra is “Create to Inspire.”
One thing about Jackie, she is captivated by color. You can see this when you look at her silk paintings, photography, acrylic paintings, and textile art. Painting on silk is one of Jackie’s favorite artistic mediums, but she enjoys creating in a variety of media including non-traditional quilting, linocut printmaking, and digital surface design.
Jackie received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art from Meredith College, in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2003. Since then, she’s been integrating her appreciation of nature with bold color, creating captivatingly beautiful artwork.
As a child, her inspiration came from spending her summers roaming free on her grandparent’s 100 acre farm in southwest Michigan. She also grew up admiring her grandmother, Viola Phillips’ oil paintings and her grandfather, L.G. Isaac’s photography.
Today, Jackie’s inspiration still comes from details found in nature, especially the colors of fall foliage. She recently spent two and a half amazing years living in and exploring the beautiful Canadian province of Nova Scotia with her hubby Derek and their two kitties Mikey and Mango. The beauty of nature is found at every turn in Nova Scotia, so much so Derek started a travel blog called Atlantic Destinations, where he shares all about our amazing adventures in Nova Scotia and the Atlantic coasts.
Jackie, Derek, and the kitties, have recently returned to the states and have settled in New Bern, North Carolina, along the Neuse River; close to the east coast beaches.
Her passion is Mother Nature’s best handiwork — ocean sea life and coastal flora and fauna. Her unique and colorful art is derived from her surreal life experiences; expressing hope for a positive and adventurous destiny.
